This self-initiated project began as a personal documentation of my walk along the Pilgrims’ Way and eventually evolved into a mission to dismantle the barriers preventing others from exploring. After hearing friends voice hesitation ("I could never do this," "Where would I even begin?"), I recognised a gap in guidebooks: most focus solely on routes, neglecting the emotional and practical unknowns that deter beginners. Wonders and Wanderings bridges that gap.
Structured in two parts—practical preparation (training, packing, safety) and the journey itself (detailed encounters, sights, and challenges)—it equips walkers to feel confident, not just informed. This ethos extends to the digital companion, where navigational tools dissolve barriers for beginners. By demystifying every step, the book champions slow tourism, local discovery, and the mental and physical rewards of adventure, transforming anxiety into anticipation.
