Gemma Purkiss

Gemma here, I’m an illustrator, graphic designer, catastrophic thinker and use all of that to solve problems through visual means.

After 5 years of working in film distribution I’ve taken away a wealth of experience with handling design files and working with designers, printers and clients.

In 2017 I took the plunge and joined Shillington on their part-time course in order to improve my skillset as a graphic designer and develop techniques to help companies re-discover and re-engage their brand both internally and externally.

A great boost of confidence was given to me by the Printing Charity after being awarded a Print Future Award in July 2018.  The award allowed me to practice and improve my illustrations and screen printing skills, culminating at my first ever craft market, run by Crafty Fox Market at Mercarto Metropolitano in August 2019.

With my experience in film distribution and liaising with producers for the creation of theatrical artwork and trailers I have developed a thirst for project management, creation of visual assets and creative problem solving for brands. On the side, I draw and daydream of ideas that could change the world.

I’m looking to collaborate with other designers, architects, animators, filmmakers, theatre practitioners, story tellers and writers.

Hit me up at if you think I’d be suitable for a collaboration or commission.
