The questers Guide to Magic

Role: Designer & Illustrator
Client: Creative Quests
Collaborators: 26+ creators and contributors
Deliverables: Book spreads, card deck design, print production

The Quester's Guide to Magic is a 112-page interactive book exploring creativity and curiosity through the lens of magic. Published by Creative Quests, a global collective dedicated to living more curiously and creatively, the project brought together writers, illustrators, questers and designers from around the world to create a multimedia experience including a book, digital platform, and prompt card deck.

My Contribution:

I designed and illustrated 3 spreads for the book, combining vector illustrations with hand-drawn elements to create visual narratives that complemented the missions and essays. Working remotely with the creative team, I contributed to layout design decisions across a master InDesign and Illustrator file over two months.

Beyond the book, I collaborated with Sam Furness (Quester-in-Chief) to create the complete print production files for the Pathways of Magic card deck. This included designing the box packaging, card fronts and backs, and developing a flexible design system that could adapt across future card sets with different themes thus ensuring visual consistency while allowing for creative variety.

Get the magic

The Challenge:

Managing a fully remote design process with 27+ contributors required careful coordination and adaptability. Working across shared master files meant constant communication, version control, and being comfortable with a truly collaborative design kitchen where multiple creative voices shaped the final product.
